Jan Macko, PhD. is an assistant professor at the Department of Physical Chemistry at the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice. He started his studies at the Faculty of Science in 2008. In 2013, he completed his masters degree in the field of study of acad. subjects biology – chemistry with diploma thesis on adhesion of living cell lines on to nanostructured substrates. He also actively undertook this issue during his doctoral studies, which he completed in 2017 by defending his dissertation on nanostructured layers for cell adhesion and growth. He has published the results of his research in well-known scientific papers and actively presented at several foreign and internal conferences. His current research is focused on the study of hydrophobicity of hybrid metal-polymer layers, and the preparation of intelligent fertilizers. Jan Macko, PhD. is currently part of the research team working on APVV and VEGA projects. In other activities he participated in the organization of events such as Open Door Day of UPJŠ and promotion of UPJŠ at events such as. European Researchers Night. Since 2013 he has been a member of the Slovak Chemical Society.
