Physical chemistry – computational courses for chemists

Alexandra Gubóová is a first-year PhD student in Physical Chemistry program at the Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. She holds an MSc in Physical Chemistry and BSc in Chemistry. The main interest of her work is the study of the electrochemical reaction of hydrogen evolution and especially suitable noble-metal free catalysts for this reaction. She uses mostly electrochemistry to evaluate catalytic activity and stability of prepared samples. In her research she works closely with the Institute of Material Research of Slovak Academy of Sciences. During her studies, she received the Annual Rector’s Award and participated in student scientific conferences several times, with one being awarded the second place. Already during her master’s studies, she became a co-author of two patented publications. She is a member of The Electrochemical Society (ECS) and is also teaching Physical Chemistry I. and II. course and supervising one bachelor student. Currently she is a co-researcher of three APVV projects focusing not only on hydrogen evolution and its catalysis, but also on European Green Agreement in the context of international and national law in cooperation with the Faculty of Law.
