Physical chemistry – computational course for chemists
Ivana Mojžišová is a first year PhD student in the Department of Physical Chemistry at the Faculty of Science of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. She is currently under the supervision of prof. RNDr. Renáta Oriňaková, DrSc. In her research, she is dealing with the preparation and studying of absorbable metallic materials as potential biodegradable orthopaedic implants. She focuses on the zinc-based biodegradable materials and studies the influence of surface modifications and alloying with other metals on their degradation and biological properties. She uses powder metallurgy for sample preparation and electrochemical methods for degradation properties evaluation and ceramic coatings deposition. She is dedicated to the preparation of hydroxyapatite-based ceramic coatings and their doping with antibacterial therapeutic agents. Currently, she is also teaching Physical Chemistry course. During her studies, she participated in several student scientific conferences where she achieved first place several times. She was also awarded the prize of the Literary Fund of the Slovak Republic for the best work of the Student Scientific Conference. Ivana is also a member of the Slovak Chemical Society and The Electrochemical Society.
