Degradable biomaterials with the controlled drug release (Degradovateľné biomateriály s riadeným uvoľňovaním liečiv)

VEGA 1/0095/21 (Application of innovative nanocatalysts and DFT simulations for efficient hydrogen production); APVV-20-0278 (Degradable metallic biomaterials with controlled drug release); VVGS-2023-2550 (Preparation and study of corrosion properties of Zn-Ag biomaterials)

Viktória Čákyová is a second-year PhD student in Physical Chemistry program at the Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. She has a Master of Science in Physical Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. The detailed study of the degradation properties and characteristics of surface modification using electrochemical methods is a major concern for her work. She is currently working on a project to investigate the preparation of degradable metal implants from elementary metallic powders, such as iron, zinc or magnesium, surface modification of prepared materials with bioactive coatings and incorporation of a drug component into the structure of the prepared coatings. She also cooperates with the Institute of the Slovak Academy of Science on her research. She took part in several student scientific conferences during her studies and won first prize in one of them. She is a co-researcher of the APVV project, which focuses on degradable biomaterials with controlled drug release, and a principal researcher of her VVGS project, which is titled as Preparation and study of corrosion properties of Zn-Ag biomaterials (2023-2024). She is the author as well as co-author of two CC publications that were first published in 2023.
